Strange hadron matter and SU ( 3 ) symmetry

چکیده

We calculate saturation curves for strange hadron matter using recently constructed baryon-baryon potentials which are constrained by SU(3) symmetry. All possible interaction channels within the baryon octet (consisting of N , Λ, Σ, and Ξ) are considered. It is found that a small Λ fraction in nuclear matter slightly increases binding, but that larger fractions (> 10%) rapidly cause a decrease. Charge-neutral {N,Λ,Ξ} systems, with equal densities for nucleons and cascades, are only very weakly bound. The dependence of the binding energies on the strangeness per baryon, fs, is predicted for various {N,Λ,Ξ} and {N,Λ,Σ,Ξ} systems. The implications of our results in relativistic heavy-ion collisions and the core of a dense star are discussed. We also discuss the differences between our results and previous hadron matter calculations. 21.65.+f, 13.75.Ev, 12.39.Pn, 21.30.-x Typeset using REVTEX

Several topics in hadron physics at different scales of resolution are discussed. First, deep-inelastic scattering from nucleons and nuclei is viewed in a light-cone coordinate space picture. Then the smooth transition from parton to hadron degrees of freedom is demonstrated by analysing generalized Q-dependent polarizabilities of the nucleon. Turning to low energy QCD we summarize recent devel...

Superheavy Nuclei in a Chiral Hadronic Model Ch . Beckmann , P . Papazoglou , D . Zschiesche S . Schramm ,

Superheavy nuclei are investigated in a nonlinear chiral SU(3)-model. The proton number Z=120 and neutron numbers of N=172, 184 and 198 are predicted to be magic. The charge distributions and α-decay chains hint towards a hollow stucture. Reasonable descriptions of nuclei directly derived from QCD models are still not in sight. However, one can investigate effective models that incorporate basi...

We apply the chiral SU(3) quark mean field model to investigate strange quark matter. The stability of strange quark matter with different strangeness fraction is studied. The interaction between quarks and vector mesons destabilizes the strange quark matter. If the strength of the vector coupling is the same as in hadronic matter, strangelets can not be formed. For the case of β equilibrium, t...

Until now it is not possible to determine the equation of state (EOS) of hadronic matter from QCD. One succesfully applied alternative way to describe the hadronic world at high densities and temperatures are effective models like the RMF-models [1], where the relevant degrees of freedom are baryons and mesons instead of quarks and gluons. Since approximate chiral symmetry is an essential featu...

The Changes in Properties of Hadrons in Nuclei and Nuclear Matter

The changes of hadron properties in dense and/or hot matter are discussed in terms of effective chiral Lagrangians with the parameters of the theory scaled in a simple way. The phenomenologically successful Walecka model is identified as a mean field chiral Lagrangian with the scaled parameters. Kaon condensation and chiral restoration transitions can be described within the same mean field fra...
